10-Day Ladakh Itinerary: Leh, Nubra, Pangong and Tso Moriri
Ten days is one of the best lengths for a first Ladakh trip.
Unlike a rushed five- or six-day itinerary, ten days gives you time to acclimatize in Leh, explore Nubra Valley, visit Pangong Lake, and travel toward Tso Moriri and the Changthang region.
The key is to travel in the right order and avoid going too high too quickly.
Days 1โ2: Leh and Acclimatization
Spend your first two days in Leh.
Day 1 should primarily be a rest day after arrival. On Day 2, keep sightseeing easy and visit places such as Leh Market, Shanti Stupa, Leh Palace, or nearby cultural attractions according to how you feel.
These first two days help your body begin adapting before you cross very high passes and sleep at higher elevations.
Overnight: Leh
Day 3: Leh to Nubra Valley
Leave Leh for Nubra Valley after your initial acclimatization period.
The journey takes you through a dramatic landscape of high mountains, broad valleys, villages, and desert-like terrain.
Visit Diskit and continue toward Hunder.
Overnight: Nubra Valley
Day 4: Explore Nubra Valley
Spend a full day exploring Nubra rather than treating it simply as a stop between Leh and Pangong.
Visit villages, monasteries, and local communities. Depending on your interests and current access conditions, your itinerary can extend farther along the valley.
Overnight: Nubra Valley
Day 5: Nubra Valley to Pangong Lake
Travel toward Pangong Lake through the high-altitude landscape of eastern Ladakh.
Enjoy the lake, but respect its fragile environment. Stay on established roads and parking areas and never drive onto lake shores, wetlands, or riverbeds.
Overnight: Pangong area
Day 6: Pangong Lake to Leh
Enjoy an early morning at Pangong before returning to Leh.
The afternoon and evening in Leh provide a useful break between long driving days.
Overnight: Leh
Day 7: Leh to Tso Moriri
Travel southeast toward Tso Moriri through the Changthang region.
Tso Moriri lies in a spectacular high-altitude landscape. Korzok village sits near the lake and provides a base for visitors.
This is another very high-altitude destination, so continue to pay attention to how you feel.
Overnight: Korzok or the Tso Moriri area
Day 8: Tso Moriri and Return Toward Leh
Spend some time experiencing Tso Moriri in the morning.
The lake and surrounding wetlands are part of an important high-altitude ecosystem supporting migratory birds and other wildlife.
Travel back toward Leh according to your planned route and current road conditions.
Overnight: Leh or an intermediate stop according to your route
Day 9: Leh and the Indus Valley
Keep this day flexible.
You can explore monasteries and cultural sites around the Indus Valley, visit local markets, shop for Ladakhi products, or simply enjoy a slower final day.
This buffer is also valuable if weather or road conditions affected an earlier part of the itinerary.
Overnight: Leh
Day 10: Departure
Transfer to Leh airport for your onward flight.
Why This Ladakh Itinerary Works
This itinerary follows a simple principle: acclimatize first, travel higher gradually, and build in recovery time.
Ladakh is not a destination where adding more places automatically creates a better vacation.
Ten well-planned days will usually provide a richer experience than seven days spent racing from one high-altitude destination to another.
Before departure, review our Altitude Guide, Weather Guide, and Ladakh Travel Safety Guide.
